2494 Simonson Road, Richmond County, VA 22460
Indian Banks circa 1699 & 1728 has witnessed over 300 years of history on the Northern Neck. Situated on Morattico Creek, at its confluence with the Rappahannock River, Captain John Smith visited the Moraughtacund Indians at their principal village, in 1608, near present day Indian Banks. the Indian Banks site was patented in 1652 by Thomas Glasscock, who received 600 acres of land on Morattico Creek in return of the surrender of a grant of 200 acres of land on the Piankatank River (which he had received upon his emigration to America in 1643). In 1728, Captain Glasscock married Ester ball & took up residence here. This captivating Manor House is distinctly English in its architecture. Beautiful Flemish Bond Brickwork with a rare scrolled soffit above the main entrance (one of only two know examples in VA). Historic Garden Week Property.
